Labor and Delivery Nurse

Experience: Minimum one year of labor and delivery experience preferred
License: Montana Licensure (Registered Nurse)
Certifications:
- American Heart Association BLS
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program Provider (NRP recertification required every 2 years)
- Electronic Fetal Monitoring Series Certificate of Completion (or equivalent AWHONN approved course)
- Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) recertification required every 2 years
- American Heart Association ACLS
Must-Have:
- Competence in and a willingness and ability to practice modified primary nursing
- Two hours of initial cerebrovascular disease (stroke) education
Description:
The Registered Nurse works in a collaborative and cooperative relationship with other members of the health care team.
The nurse plans and implements patient and family education.
They are responsible for assessing patient needs and initiating appropriate interventions.
The position requires circulating in the delivery room and the ability to float to other units as a safety companion.
Candidates must be willing to float to Mother Baby and take couplets.
Essential functions include collecting comprehensive data pertinent to the patient's health or situation.
Analyzing assessment data to determine diagnoses or issues is a core responsibility.
Expected outcomes are identified for a plan individualized to the patient or the situation.
The development of a plan that prescribes strategies and alternatives to attain expected outcomes is required.
The nurse implements the identified plan of care and employs strategies to promote health and a safe environment.
Enhancing the quality and effectiveness of nursing practice is crucial.
Knowledge and competency that reflect current nursing practice must be attained.
Evaluation of one's nursing practice in relation to professional standards, guidelines, and regulations is expected.
Contribution to the professional development of peers and colleagues is a key function.
Collaboration with patients, families, and others in conducting nursing practice is essential.
Integrating ethical provisions in all areas of practice is required.
Research findings should be integrated into practice.
Providing leadership in the professional practice setting and the profession is expected.

Physical Requirements:
Lifting (Repeatedly up to 50 pounds) is necessary.

Twisting, bending, stooping, and kneeling regularly require flexibility and a wide range of motion.
Reaching above shoulder level, pushing, and pulling are necessary tasks.
Fine-finger movements are continuously required.
Close visual acuity is needed for preparing and analyzing data and reading materials.
Cognitive skills for learning, remembering processes, and making timely decisions are necessary.
Candidates will be exposed to bloodborne pathogens, radiation, chemicals, and emotionally challenging situations.
