Position Overview

Norton Healthcare is seeking experienced and compassionate Registered Nurses (RNs) specializing in Labor & Delivery to join the team at Norton Women’s & Children’s Hospital in Louisville, KY. This is an excellent opportunity for skilled L&D nurses who are passionate about delivering exceptional, patient-centered maternal care in a fast-paced acute care environment.

The RN will be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to mothers and newborns, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and ensuring high-quality clinical outcomes while maintaining patient safety and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive patient assessments and reassessments according to clinical standards and patient conditions.
• Develop, implement, and revise individualized patient care plans.
• Monitor patient responses to clinical interventions and document outcomes accurately.
• Provide education and emotional support to patients and families throughout labor, delivery, postpartum care, and discharge planning.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, midwives, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams.
• Delegate tasks appropriately to licensed and non-licensed personnel.
• Serve as a mentor/preceptor to nursing staff and contribute to a positive team environment.
• Participate in quality improvement, patient safety initiatives, and evidence-based practice activities.
• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and best nursing practices.
• Promote a safe, clean, and supportive care environment for patients, families, and staff.

Required Qualifications

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery RN experience
• Acute care nursing experience required
• Epic EMR experience preferred

Education

• Nursing Diploma OR Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN)

Licensure & Certifications

• Active Kentucky RN License (required at submission)
• BLS Certification
• ACLS Certification
• NRP Certification
• EFM Certification or AWHONN Intermediate/Advanced Fetal Monitoring

Schedule Details

• 12-hour shifts (36 hours/week)
• Day Shift and Night Shift opportunities available
• Every other weekend required
• Typical Day/Night Shift Hours: 6:45 – 7:15
