A Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering safe, patient- and family-centered care while ensuring quality outcomes, patient satisfaction, and adherence to clinical standards. The RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care, collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, provides patient/family education, and supports staff through mentorship and leadership. The role also emphasizes evidence-based practice, regulatory compliance, and participation in quality and performance improvement initiatives.
Shift & Weekly Hours Breakdown
- Shift Timing: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM
- Shift Length: 12.5 hours per shift
- Schedule: Every other weekend required
- Typical Weekly Structure:
- Standard: 3 shifts per week
- Weekly Hours: ~37.5 hours/week (average full-time equivalent)
- Weekend rotation: Every other weekend included in schedule rotation
Core RN Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Perform comprehensive assessments & reassessments
- Identify priorities in complex patient situations
- Monitor and evaluate patient responses to interventions
Care Planning & Implementation
- Develop, implement, and update individualized care plans
- Coordinate with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Address cultural, psychosocial, and discharge needs
Patient & Family Education
- Provide ongoing education during stay and at discharge
- Support patient/family understanding and engagement in care
Leadership & Team Support
- Delegate tasks to licensed/unlicensed staff appropriately
- Serve as mentor/preceptor for team members
- Support teamwork, communication, and unit goals
Quality & Compliance
- Participate in quality and safety improvement initiatives
- Follow regulatory standards and hospital policies
- Promote cost-effective and safe care delivery
Professional Development
- Engage in evidence-based practice and continuing education
- Read and apply relevant clinical research and journals
Required Skills & Credentials
- BLS, ACLS, NRP, EFM certifications
- Epic EMR experience
- Minimum 2 years RN experience
- Active Kentucky RN license at time of submission
