Job Description

HCA Healthcare is seeking a Clinical Nurse Coordinator RN for Labor and Delivery who is passionate about providing exceptional, patient-centered care to mothers, babies, and families during one of the most meaningful moments in their lives. As part of a leading healthcare and medical services organization, you will play a key role in coordinating clinical care on the labor and delivery unit while actively participating in direct patient care. This position blends hands-on bedside nursing with leadership responsibilities, giving you the opportunity to impact patient outcomes, support your colleagues, and influence the quality of care across the unit.

In this role, you will provide comprehensive nursing care for laboring, antepartum, and postpartum patients, as well as newborns, using evidence-based practices aligned with HCA Healthcare’s standards of excellence. You will perform thorough maternal and fetal assessments, interpret electronic fetal monitoring tracings, administer medications and IV therapies, assist with vaginal and cesarean births, and respond rapidly to obstetric emergencies such as postpartum hemorrhage, preeclampsia, and non-reassuring fetal status. You will collaborate closely with obstetricians, midwives, anesthesiologists, neonatologists, and other members of the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, coordinated, and compassionate care.

As a Clinical Nurse Coordinator, you will help oversee daily clinical operations on your assigned shifts. You will assist with patient flow and bed placement, help prioritize admissions and discharges, support appropriate staffing assignments, and serve as a clinical resource and point of escalation for the team. You will model best practices in documentation, infection prevention, safety protocols, and service excellence, and you will help identify and resolve clinical or operational issues that arise during the shift. By fostering open communication and teamwork, you will contribute to a supportive work environment that reflects HCA Healthcare’s culture of compassion, integrity, and collaboration.

You will also play an active role in mentoring and developing staff. This includes precepting new nurses and students, providing real-time coaching on labor and delivery skills and clinical judgment, and helping to reinforce policies, procedures, and quality standards. You will participate in performance improvement initiatives, unit-based councils, and quality and safety projects aimed at enhancing maternal and neonatal outcomes. Your ability to provide clear education and guidance to patients, families, and team members will be central to your success in this role.

Education and communication are vital components of the position. You will educate patients and families about labor processes, pain management options, cesarean delivery, postpartum recovery, breastfeeding, newborn care, and warning signs that require medical attention. You will ensure that patients and their support persons feel informed, respected, and involved in decision-making. Consistent with HCA Healthcare’s focus on patient experience, you will advocate for patient preferences, cultural needs, and emotional support, while maintaining professionalism and clinical objectivity during high-stress and rapidly changing situations.

HCA Healthcare offers a collaborative environment where your clinical expertise and leadership skills can grow. You will have access to ongoing professional development, evidence-based education, and opportunities to participate in specialty training, certification support, and leadership programs. As a Clinical Nurse Coordinator RN Labor and Delivery, you will be part of a team that is committed to innovation, continuous improvement, and delivering high-quality, safe care to women and newborns. This role is ideal for an experienced labor and delivery nurse who enjoys both direct patient care and the opportunity to guide and support colleagues, and who is motivated to make a meaningful impact on maternal-child health within a leading healthcare system.

As an employee of HCA Healthcare, you can expect a comprehensive total rewards package that may include competitive pay, medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, retirement and 401(k) programs, paid time off, and access to wellness and employee assistance resources. You will work primarily on-site within the labor and delivery unit, in a fast-paced, technologically advanced, and team-oriented clinical environment, with the satisfaction of knowing that your work each day contributes to healthy beginnings for families in the community.
