Job Description
Overview: Join a dedicated healthcare team as a Surgical Technologist specializing in Labor and Delivery. In this role, you will serve as the "scrub technologist" within the surgical suite, providing essential patient care to support positive outcomes under the guidance of a Registered Nurse. Your expertise will contribute to the smooth operation of surgical procedures in a dynamic clinical environment.
Key Responsibilities: Perform duties aligned with the surgical technologist scope of practice, including preparation and maintenance of the sterile field, handling complex monitoring and life-saving equipment, and assisting in surgical procedures. You may be assigned additional tasks as necessary to support patient care and surgical team efficiency.
Work Environment: This position requires endurance for long hours, variable shifts, and extensive physical activity such as standing, walking, bending, lifting, and transferring anesthetized patients. Manual dexterity, excellent eye-hand coordination, and keen visual and auditory acuity are essential.
Education and Certifications: A minimum of one year of experience as a surgical technologist is preferred. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association is required.
Experience and Skills: Demonstrated knowledge of standard precautions and infection control practices is critical. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and spoken, is necessary. Familiarity with the physiological, psychosocial, developmental, and spiritual needs of patients across age groups is important. Self-directed learning and achievement of clinical objectives are encouraged.
Additional Requirements: This role involves potential exposure to blood and other infectious materials through skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact. Candidates must be able to tolerate the physical demands of the position and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
