Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) – Labor & Delivery

Facility: Sutter Health – Tracy Community Hospital
Location: Tracy, California
Contract Length: 13 Weeks (Potential for extension)
 

Position Overview

Sutter Health is seeking an experienced Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment at Tracy Community Hospital. This role requires a highly skilled clinician capable of managing both mother and newborn throughout the labor, delivery, and immediate postpartum process.

The ideal candidate will be confident in high-acuity obstetrical care, fetal monitoring, and emergency interventions, while providing compassionate, patient-centered support to families during childbirth.

Schedule

• Shift: Day Shift (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
• Schedule: 3 x 12-hour shifts (36 hours/week)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Call: As needed

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care during labor, delivery, and postpartum periods
• Perform and interpret electronic fetal monitoring (EFM)
• Assist with vaginal deliveries and cesarean sections (circulate & recovery)
• Administer medications including Pitocin, Magnesium Sulfate, antihypertensives, and antiseizure drugs
• Initiate and maintain IV therapy and infusion drips
• Perform newborn assessments (APGAR scoring, stabilization, and security protocols)
• Monitor maternal and fetal well-being and respond to emergent situations
• Educate patients and families on labor, delivery, and postpartum care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal outcomes

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience
• Must be comfortable caring for both mother and newborn
• Strong clinical skills in high-risk obstetrics and acute care
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment

Certifications

(All certifications must be active and from AHA or American Red Cross at time of submission)

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program – Provider)
• AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (required)

Additional Requirements

• Active California RN License (required at submission)
• Must reside 50+ miles from facility (locals accepted at lower rate)
• 2 professional references (within last year) required
