Labor & Delivery Unit Profile
The purpose of a unit profile is to help provide an exceptional understanding of the unit. Profiles will include location, number of beds, patient rations, and other unique details to assist recruiting professional in effectively and efficiently identifying highly qualified staff. Below you will find a data collection tool to help you identify essential data needed to complete your profile.

General Information
Tell us about the unit(s): Level 4 designated maternal center caring for the most complex patients at any gestation Number of Beds – 22 beds (16 labor beds) Number of Staff – approx. 100 staff with RNs and support staff Type of staff: Day Shift – 1 charge, minimum of 2 surg techs, 1 unit clerk, staff RNs to census, typically 10 staff during week and 7 during weekends Night Shift – 1 charge, minimum of 2 surg techs, 1 unit clerk, staffs to census, typically 9 staff during the week and 7 during the weekends Patient Ratios – 1:2, 1:1 Type of equipment – EMR – CPN and Meditech Permanent Positions on Unit Available? (Y/N) – Yes nights and weekend plan
Typical hiring profile
Skill Set Most recruited for: (Travel RNs, local CNAs and sitters) Must have: candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role. Experience with high risk maternal patients Circulating Operating room and triage Preferred or nice to have: candidates with these skills will be considered first. Greater than 5 years’ experience List typical procedures performed on unit(s): Vaginal and Cesarean section deliveries, tubal ligations, cerclage placement and removal, D&CC-hyst, PASD cases Best personality Fit: Multi-tasker, can move at fast pace, can change directions quickly Team orientated unit - team player is a must
Dress Code: Include requirements, but most of all not acceptable attire. Scrub Color - navy blue

Very tenured unit with long term leadership that is fully supportive of the team. The Manager and Director can come into patient care if census requires. Undergoing renovation to update all rooms on the floor.
