Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Level 4 Labor & Delivery position in Austin, TX, requiring high-risk maternal care experience and night shift availability.

Details

• Acute care hospital setting on a 22-bed L&D unit (16 labor beds) on the 3rd floor, designated as a Level 4 Maternal Center — the highest level of maternal care in Texas
• Cares for the most complex maternal patients at any gestation, including high-risk cases
• Patient ratio is 1:2, with 1:1 staffing available as needed
• Procedures performed include vaginal and C-section deliveries, tubal ligations, cerclage placement and removal, D&C, C-hyst, and PASD cases
• EMR systems used: CPN and Meditech
• Night shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (19:00–07:00)
• Requires 4 weekend shifts per schedule
• No on-call requirements
• 13-week contract

Requirements

• Active TX RN license or compact RN license currently in hand
• Certifications required: BLS (AHA or ARC accepted), intermediate or advanced AWHONN Fetal Monitoring (or NCCEFM), and NRP Advanced 9th Edition (American Academy of Pediatrics card)
• Certifications must not expire within the first 30 days of the start date
• Minimum 1 year of recent L&D experience required
• Experience with high-risk maternal patients is required
• Circulating OR and triage experience required
• US SSN and date of birth required for consideration
• One professional reference required (two required for candidates licensed in Florida or Missouri)
• No gaps in work history of 90 days or more within the past 12 months

Additional Information

• Unit is staffed with approximately 100 RNs and support staff, with a tenured team and long-term leadership
• Charge RNs, surgical techs, and unit clerks are present on all shifts to support the care team
• Leadership, including the Manager and Director, will step into patient care when census requires
• Unit is currently undergoing renovation to update all patient rooms
• Navy blue scrubs are required
• Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility — local candidates are not eligible
• Ideal candidates are strong multi-taskers who can adapt quickly and thrive in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
• Candidates with more than 5 years of L&D experience will be given priority consideration
• This facility has been recognized as America's Best Maternity Hospital (Newsweek 2023) and holds a Leapfrog Grade A distinction
