Overview
We seek a compassionate and dedicated Labor & Delivery Registered Nurse to join the Women & Family Center at a regional acute care hospital serving Southeast Iowa . This role provides comprehensive, patient-centered care for laboring patients, postpartum patients, newborns, and pediatrics within a collaborative, supportive environment.
This position reports to the Director of the Women & Family Center and plays a key role in ensuring safe, high-quality care across the perinatal continuum.

This role provides comprehensive, patient-centered care for laboring patients, postpartum patients, newborns, and pediatrics within a collaborative, supportive environment.
This position reports to the Director of the Women & Family Center and plays a key role in ensuring safe, high-quality care across the perinatal continuum.
How You'll Contribute
- Provide direct nursing care for laboring patients, postpartum patients, surgical patients, newborn nursery, special care nursery, and pediatric patients.
- Complete thorough physical and psychosocial assessments for assigned patients.
- Create, update, and individualize nursing care plans in partnership with patients and families.
- Implement and evaluate nursing care plans and contribute to the medical plan of care.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver holistic patient care.
- Acknowledge and process physician orders through electronic order entry.
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient responses using an electronic medical record.
- Prepare and administer medications safely in alignment with the five rights of medication administration.
- Demonstrate strong clinical judgment and critical thinking skills.
- Support team members and promote a positive, patient-focused environment.
- Provide exceptional interpersonal communication and customer service.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Graduate of an accredited Registered Nursing program.
- Active Iowa RN license OR multistate compact RN license (Iowa participates in the NLC).
- Current BCLS certification required.
- NRP certification required within 12 months (training provided).
- Basic fetal monitoring course required within 12 months.
- Prior experience in Maternal Child Health or Medical/Surgical nursing preferred, not required.
