ASCP Certified OB Surgical Technician - Labor & Delivery PRN

Partridge, KS $32,009 - $42,099 a year

Join a dedicated healthcare team providing compassionate, patient-centered care across various departments including medical, emergency, ICU, imaging, and obstetrics in a regional healthcare setting within the Midwest. This part-time role involves assisting licensed nursing staff with direct patient care and supportive activities, ensuring safety principles are upheld, and escalating patient concerns appropriately.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform individualized patient care tasks such as vital signs monitoring, assisting with hygiene, feeding, mobility, and specimen collection under nurse delegation.
  • Support emergency department functions including phlebotomy, EKG testing, and specimen handling after completing required training.
  • Assist ICU staff with patient monitoring, clerical duties, and recognizing abnormal cardiac rhythms following arrhythmia course completion.
  • Provide technical and clerical support in imaging, preparing patients and equipment, and maintaining cleanliness and supply levels.
  • In obstetrics, perform scrubbing for deliveries and tubal ligations, assist with circumcisions, prepare delivery suites, and support newborn screenings and specimen preparation.
  • Offer continuous video observation and verbal redirection for patient safety in telesitter duties.
Education
  • Completion of a nurse assistant training program, or
  • Six months of nurse assistant experience, or
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Advanced EMT experience, or
  • Successful completion of the first semester of nursing school clinical including basic clinical skills.
Preferred Education and Experience
  • One year of nurse assistant experience in an acute care environment.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification.
  • Phlebotomy Technician (PBT) certification (ASCP preferred).
Licenses and Certifications
  • Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through AHA or ARC prior to start date.
