Essential Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for an assigned group of patients.
• Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in physician orders for assigned patients.
• Assists physicians during patient examinations and minor diagnostic procedures/treatments.
• Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients; observes physiological manifestations and intervenes when necessary.
• Administers medications as prescribed.
• Initiates, regulates, and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products.
• Delivers patient care competently and in accordance with established nursing standards.
• Collaborates with patients and families regarding care plans during hospitalization and discharge planning.
• Educates patients and families on hospital procedures and treatment plans.
• Makes referrals regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel and departments.
• Delegates tasks appropriately to support staff.
• Performs additional duties as assigned. 

Required Skills & Experience

• Knowledge of professional nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
• Ability to organize, plan, coordinate, and evaluate nursing services.
• Ability to apply nursing techniques effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain positive working relationships.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to respond effectively to cultural and language needs of patients and visitors.
• Basic computer proficiency and electronic medical record (EMR) experience.
• Minimum 5 years of Labor & Delivery (L&D) experience in a Level 1 Trauma setting required.
• Minimum 2 years of travel nursing experience required. 

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Previous experience in high-acuity maternal/newborn environments preferred.
• Experience with fetal monitoring and emergency obstetric care preferred. 

Education

Required Education

• Associate’s degree in nursing (ADN) from an accredited school of nursing. 

Preferred Education

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited program. 

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Current RN License issued by the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing OR current multistate compact RN License (eNLC).
• Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – American Heart Association.
• Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Certification.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Advanced Provider OR NRP Instructor certification.
