Job Description
Position Summary
We are seeking experienced, reliable, and professional Hospitality Drivers to support commissary, catering, and event operations throughout New York City. This role is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of food, beverages, catering equipment, and event supplies while ensuring compliance with company standards and applicable New York State Department of Transportation (NYS DOT) regulations.
The ideal candidate is punctual, detail-oriented, safety-focused, and committed to delivering exceptional service while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and food safety.
Key Responsibilities
Transportation & Delivery:
- Safely transport food, beverages, catering equipment, and supplies from the commissary to event venues and designated delivery locations throughout NYC
- Follow assigned delivery schedules, routes, and dispatch instructions to ensure on-time arrivals
- Load and unload vehicles safely and efficiently while protecting product quality and equipment integrity
- Verify delivery contents against packing lists, invoices, and Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) prior to departure
- Maintain proper handling and temperature control of perishable food items during transport
- Ensure all items are properly secured using approved cargo restraints, including E-track straps and wheel locks
- Confirm delivery completion with clients or on-site contacts and document deliveries as required
- Assist with event setup and breakdown when needed
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections in compliance with NYS DOT regulations
- Inspect tires, lights, mirrors, fuel levels, liftgates, refrigeration units, and cargo restraints
- Report any vehicle damage, maintenance concerns, accidents, or mechanical issues immediately
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation of delivery vehicles
- Ensure vehicles are properly stocked with operational and safety supplies
- Follow all company safety procedures and safe driving practices at all times
- Park only in approved loading and unloading areas
- Review assigned driver sheets, delivery schedules, and BEOs before departure
- Verify delivery addresses, client contact information, timelines, and special instructions
- Communicate with culinary, operations, and event teams to confirm readiness of food, beverages, rentals, and equipment
- Notify supervisors promptly regarding delays, traffic issues, route concerns, or operational challenges
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, records, and timekeeping documentation
- Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while interacting with clients, venue staff, and team members
- Adhere to company uniform standards during all scheduled shifts
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and company operational guidelines
- Participate in required safety meetings, training sessions, and operational briefings
Qualifications
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record required
- CDL preferred
- Previous experience in hospitality, catering, food delivery, logistics, or commercial driving preferred
- Knowledge of NYC driving routes and GPS navigation systems
- Familiarity with DOT regulations and safe driving practices
- Strong organizational, communication, and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as business needs require
Ability to lift, push, pull, and maneuver equipment and products weighing 50+ lbs
