Unit Information: L&D

Tell us about the unit(s):

·         Number of Beds – 16 LDR, 3 OR, 3 Triage 3 RR

·         Number of Staff – 70

·         Type of staff:

o    Day Shift – 1 charge, 12 RN, 2-3 Surgical Techs

o    Night Shift – 1 charge, 6-7 RN, 1 Surgical tech

·         Patient Ratios – AWHONN ratios are the goal.  Could be 1:1, 2:1 or 3:1 (low acuity)

·         Type of equipment – Novii monitors, iMobile, headsets, pass-through skin-to-skin C-section drape, deep soaker tubs, light therapy, aroma therapy

·         EMR – CPN and Meditech

Must have :  candidates without these skills will not be considered for the role.

·         Current (within previous 2 years)  Intermediate Fetal heart Monitoring

·         L&D experience

·         Current NRP and BLS required

Preferred or nice to have :  candidates with these skills will be considered first.

·         Experience at facilities with >3000 births per year

·         Patient preferences are central

List typical procedures performed on unit(s):   

·          Labor, deliver, recover, triage, Antepartum, circulate for C-section

·          1st hour baby care (excludes admission assessment, eyes and thighs)

·         Breastfeeding assistance
