Job Summary: Provide compassionate, patient- and family-centered nursing care in a supportive environment that exemplifies best practices and outstanding customer service. This role fosters relationship-based care and upholds professional nursing standards guided by the ANA Code of Ethics, relevant nursing practice acts, and regulatory agency standards. The position involves shared leadership responsibilities within acute care settings including medical, surgical, emergency, intensive care, childbirth, pediatric, operating room, and specialty units.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Effectively manage time and resources, prioritizing critical tasks while balancing short- and long-term objectives.
- Apply current knowledge and technical skills to deliver high-quality patient care and make appropriate patient assignments based on acuity and expertise.
- Engage in ongoing education to stay current with practice changes and promote cost-effective care.
- Exhibit excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrating respect, integrity, collaboration, empathy, and professionalism in all interactions with patients, families, providers, and colleagues.
- Maintain a therapeutic and safe environment by adhering to safety protocols, noise reduction, and supporting healthcare students.
- Participate actively in patient safety initiatives, reporting near misses, and applying principles of Just Culture, HIPAA, and national safety standards.
- Commit to personal and professional growth through leadership opportunities, certifications, advanced degrees, and shared governance participation.
- Foster teamwork by motivating and guiding colleagues, encouraging cooperation, and providing mentorship and constructive feedback.
Education and Experience:
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program or, if unaccredited, a minimum of five years acute care nursing experience.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred or required within five years of hire; enrollment in an accelerated MSN program is acceptable.
- Area-specific certifications such as ACLS, BLS, PALS, or specialty certifications to be obtained and maintained as required.
Licensure and Certifications:
- Current active Registered Nurse license in the applicable state.
