• Location: New Braunfels, TX 78130 (Comal County) — ideal for Texas travel nurses and L&D RNs)

• Shift: 12-hour days (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)

Job Requirements

• Minimum 1 year of direct Labor & Delivery (L&D) or related maternity nursing experience
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas or approved Compact State
• BLS certification (AHA only)
• Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (AHA only)
• Current maternal fetal monitoring certification: AWHONN Intermediate FHM or NCC Electronic Fetal Monitoring (C-EFM)
• STABLE certification (post-resuscitation/pre-transport stabilization care of sick infants) required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
• All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive, patient-centered care to mothers and newborns in Labor & Delivery and Postpartum units
• Perform maternal and newborn assessments using the nursing process: assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation
• Monitor fetal status and electronic fetal monitoring (EFM); respond to changes per protocol
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and treatments according to hospital protocols; monitor for effectiveness and side effects
• Document patient history, labor progress, newborn assessment, medications, and care provided accurately and timely
• Provide education and discharge teaching to patients, families, and caregivers on postpartum care, newborn care, and community resources
• Address complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families with compassion
• Make appropriate assignments and delegate tasks to other care providers while maintaining safe patient ratios
• Participate in ongoing competency verification and organizational entry competency validation — maintain required certifications and continuing education
