Staff Registered Nurse, Labor & Delivery

United Health Services (UHS), the largest and most comprehensive provider of healthcare services in upstate New York's Southern Tier, is seeking a Staff Registered Nurse, Labor & Delivery to join our team at UHS Wilson Medical Center. Our Labor and Delivery (L&D) unit is a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment where teamwork, clinical excellence, and compassion come together. Nurses in this unit work alongside passionate, experienced, and cross-trained colleagues who are dedicated to creating a seamless and supportive delivery experience for both mother and baby. This position offers a sign-on bonus of up to $15,000 and is ideal for an RN who thrives in a dynamic setting and values providing exceptional patient-centered care during life's most meaningful moments.

Hiring part-time benefit eligible positions include:

  • 24 hours weekly Day Rotation
  • 24 hours weekly Night Rotation
  • 30 hours weekly Day Rotation
  • 30 hours weekly Night Rotation
  • 36 hours weekly Night Rotation
  • Plus Per Diem opportunity!

Schedules are 12 hour shifts; every third weekend.

Primary Department, Division, or Unit: Delivery Room, UHS Wilson Medical Center

Primary Work Shift: Multiple shifts available

Compensation Range: $40.70 - $61.05 per hour, depending on experience

You will be eligible for benefits if you are hired into a regular position with at least 24 scheduled weekly hours.

Responsibilities:

  • Assesses, plans, delegates, coordinates, implements and evaluates nursing care in managing a group of patients, serving as a primary nurse and/or accountable nurse, when designated by unit assignment and consideration of factors related to safety, effectiveness, competency, cost and impact.
  • Educates patient and family in health promotion and disease management using available resources.
  • Utilizes a working knowledge of pharmacology and safely administers medications according to United Health Services policy.
  • Shares in responsibility for productivity and effective resources utilization including staffing, time management, supplies and services.
  • Complies with all nursing practice standards, regulatory requirements, and United Health Services policies.
  • Actively participates in and supports the Nursing Shared Governance Model by supporting the Unit Council, participating in improvement initiatives, and contributing to peer review practices.
  • Actively engages in professional development, continuing nursing education, and completing all mandatory education requirements.
  • Integrates nursing research and current evidence into practice.
  • Provides a supportive learning environment for new employees and students.

  • Will perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience:

Minimum Required:

  • A graduate of an accredited school of Nursing

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing
  • Previous clinical nursing experience in an acute care or ambulatory setting

License/Certification:

Minimum Required:

  • Current NYS RN License

Preferred:

  • Professional certification in a related nursing specialty
  • Relevant skills certification (i.e., ACLS, PALS, TNCC) as required by home unit assigned.
