Experience: Minimum 2 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience in an acute care hospital setting
License: Active Registered Nurse (RN)
Certifications: BLS and NRP; EFM training & Int AWHONN FHM preferred
Must-Have Skills/Experience:
Experience in a team-based high acuity environment
Comfortable managing 2 patients in Labor & Birth and 3-4 patients on Antepartum
Strong skills in fetal monitoring and interpretation
Ability to provide labor support and coaching
Experience in medication administration and IV therapy
Knowledge of obstetric emergencies and rapid response
Demonstrated ability to independently manage laboring patients, including high risk obstetric cases
Excellent communication, critical thinking, and time management skills
Ability to adapt quickly to new workflows, policies, and electronic medical records
Description:
The Labor & Birth Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to laboring, delivering, and immediate postpartum patients in a fast-paced, high acuity hospital setting.
This role requires strong clinical judgment and the ability to work independently.
Experience in managing routine and high-risk obstetric patients is essential.
The Labor & Birth RN collaborates closely with obstetric providers, anesthesia, NICU, and interdisciplinary teams.
The focus is on ensuring safe, evidence-based, and patient-centered care throughout the labor and birth process.
Successful candidates will demonstrate problem-solving skills and the ability to effectively manage patient care in a high-volume environment.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team are crucial.
The unit handles a significant number of deliveries per year, maintaining high standards of clinical practice and patient satisfaction.
Candidates are expected to dress in appropriate scrubs and adhere to the workplace dress code.
Floating between Antepartum and Labor & Birth may be required.
